How Duly Noted handles what tutors at Lazar Center write down.
The short version
Duly Noted is a private tool for one tutoring center. It is not advertising-supported, it has no analytics, and nothing in it is sold, shared or sent to anyone outside the center. Everything it keeps lives on the center's own server and on the tutors' own phones.
What it keeps
- About a tutor: their name, the email they sign in with, their password (stored only as a hash that cannot be turned back into the password), which phones they have signed in from, and their own working hours.
- About a student: their name, grade, subjects, a parent's name and email if the tutor entered one, the session notes written about them, and reminders a tutor flagged.
- Portal sign-ins a tutor saved for a student are encrypted with a passphrase that only the center knows. The server stores them only in that encrypted form and cannot read them.
What never leaves the phone
Scanned pages and the text read off them stay on the tutor's phone. They are not synced, not backed up to this server, and not sent anywhere. Before any page is used to draft a note, the app blacks out ID numbers, phone numbers, surnames and other names on it.
Children
The students written about here are mostly under 18. They are not users of the app and cannot sign in to it — only tutors can. Nothing about a student is used for advertising, profiling or any purpose beyond the tutoring the center provides. A parent who wants to see or delete what is held about their child can ask the center, and it is removed from the server and the tutors' phones.
Who can see it
Only tutors at the center, signed in with their own account. A tutor sees their own students; an administrator sees the center's. There is no other access, and no third party is given a copy.
How long
Notes and student records are kept while the student is with the center and are removed on request. Encrypted files a tutor uploaded for a session are deleted once the phone has collected them, and in any case after 30 days. A phone that has not synced for 90 days is signed out automatically.
